"Sore's musical products are a pastiche of several genres gleaned enthusiastically from listening to and experiencing the music of the various decades of the 20th century, and culminating in what can only be described as ""collage rock"", a totally new, totally exciting sonic experience." (Jakarta Post 2005)

SORE is a Jakarta-based indie band whose musical eclecticism renders difficult a simple comparison, that a new term is coined to define their music. Imagine the Beatles grew up in the Pacifics, listening to the music of Steely Dan, Morrisey, Interpol, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, and spending their evenings at the cinema watching some old obscure films.

Originally formed by three childhood friends (Ade Paloh, Mondo Gascaro & Awan Garnida). In late 2001 Awan Garnida brought two other friends (Bembi Gusti & Reza Dwiputranto) and together they formed a group which they called SORE (means "late afternoon" in Indonesian). In 2004 and early 2005 they contributed two songs in a couple of compilation albums, the first was a compilation of music from Jakarta’s indie scene called "JKRT: SKRG" (an abreviation of "Jakarta, Sekarang" which translates "Jakarta, Now") released by Aksara Records. The other was an original motion picture soundtrack "Janji Joni,” also released by Aksara.

They released their full-length debut album Centralismo (Aksara Records) in the summer of 2005, which was in part became their tribute to Central Jakarta, where most of the members grew up. The music varied greatly from track to track as each member contributed lead singings and song-writings in this album. Their somewhat vintage instrumentation, like the use of vibraphones, mellotron, and horn section might create a reminiscence of the popular music golden era in the 50's, 60's and 70's, only without the parody.

The album received praise from all quarters. The Time Magazine Asia acknowledged “CENTRALISMO” as "One of Five Asian Albums Worth Buying", and Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine listed it 40 in "150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time".

While preparing their materials for their second album, they got involved in four original soundtrack albums: "Berbagi Suami" (Love for Share); "Kala" (Dead Time); Quickie Express; "Perempuan Punya Cerita" (Chants of Lotus), one of which became a hit single, "Pergi Tanpa Pesan,” a reworking of a forgotten Indonesian classic from the late 1950's.

At last, after working their materials for more than a year, they are back with their second album entitled Ports of Lima (Aksara Records - 2008) to great critical acclaim. The Rolling Stone Indonesia recently voted it as the Best Album of 2008.

sind3ntosca is a "rare" independent band from Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Has only 1 personel named Jalu, who's songwriting, composing, arranging, mixing, engineering, designing, web constructing, CD producing, 3D animating, making video clips, and much more by himself ...and also mini marketing and managing, and do all the net surfing... pathetic! :p It's a blue and green mixed genre, with it's own special feature of liquid lyric called SUNDACELTIC.

Kartika Jahja, or TIKA as she is known, is a solo singer who choses a different path than most Indonesian so-called divas. Having gone thru a colorful musical evolution, where she sang for Jazz bands, Electronic and even Punk bands, TIKA finally decides to stick with whatever flows out of her soul. "Paint the picture first, think of the frame later." is what she said "I'm just trying to capture whatever comes out before it washes away and then think about genre, marketing and all that after." Some call it trip hop, some thinks its jazzy, and a few have baptized it as being noir music in comparison to noir films. On her critically aclaimed debut album, TIKA collaborates with her music-soulmates: Aghi, Iman, and Bemby from the band LAIN (www.myspace.com/lain) as well as Age from veteran indie band the Jonis. Now she joins forces with a permanent back up band, who's more than just a back up band. Each band member has very different influences and style that creates a rich vibe when put together. The band and TIKA have started writing new songs, which will hopefully appear in a second album.

EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE was born in 1998. It all started with a band named Gooton, consisting Yudhi Arfani (guitar), Dimas Anindityo (bass), and Mulyadi Triharsono (drum) when they were only in junior high school! All three grew to become friends in the same scene that popped up several britpops gigs, popular in Jakarta at that time. However, the band went without permanent vocalist. After some time, in 2001 the boys met Irene Yohanna, a girl with remarkable voice. Her voice trully made a break. All the boys loved it. Even more, everybody loves Irene! This in fact is the exact sentence that became the name of the band EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE. She soon became the main icon of this band.

With spare-backing tracks and emotional yet wrenching vocal, EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE play music for times when ecstasy wears off and the tingle becomes a chill. It’s a dance noir for those too world-weary to move. Their music quality got even more enriched when Aulia Naratama (synthetizer) joined the band. This is the last, perfect and solid format for the band to produce new, great songs like Memento Mori, Gravity Always Win, Try Try Try, The Lullaby Show, and the list goes on.

EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE’s music might sound like seen as a really unhappy world. On its creative process, it admits that it is mostly inspired by some talented musicians like Emiliana Torrini, Goldfrapp, Air, Mono, Sneaker Pimps, Portishead, Anjali, Radiohead, Cocteau Twins, Sigur Ros, The Smiths, Bloc Party, and some other great musicians that cannot be mentioned one by one. This would make them an eclectic indie-pop band with lot of organic trip-hop influences that touches a view element of multi-layered electronica sounds. It will reveal such dark ambience when these young acts is started to perform their non-standard songwriting.

EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE has created lunatic fans among the music lovers, regarding the quantity of presenting themselves in some international events that they have participated, such as Baybeats International Festival 2007 in Singapore.

Among these times, EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE has already released their first album entitled The Very First Thing You Must Learn About Flying Is Gravity as their first musical journey in late 2006 and their second album in mid 2008 On Second Thought, I Might Wanna Change Some Things which attract fans not only from Indonesia but also from the neighboring countries and even Europe.

The fact that they are gaining more popularities has attracted attention from the International Music Television: Channel [V] which featured them in their TV show about indie bands in asia: AMP Around Asia. EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE has also participated in some local and international compilation album, including international acknowledgement on compilation album"Electro Zone - Volume 1" release on France, "Alila Independent Selection Vol. 1" release on iTunes and "Half Dreaming: Asia Shoegaze Compilation" release in Japan & USA and also a nation-wide movie original soundtrack entitled Gerbang13 and a TV serial titled Dunia Tanpa Koma (DTK).

Another thing that we can say is that if you’re making out at home or pining home alone, EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE is the most appropriate one to leisure.
